NortheK congratulates all winners and thanks the judging panel, the
participants, and the organizers who made the event possible. We
invite Lorenzo Siciliano to contact us directly at info@northek. it to
make arrangements; since we are on the subject, we take the occasion
to clarify to Lorenzo and to all readers that we will deliver the
prize free of charge and that the prize certificate may be spent on
any item in any price range.
We are appalled at hearing of a self-proclaimed sponsor that exploited
the contest to get free advertising and it looks like in the end did
not offer any prize nor any apologies to the organizers and to the
list, and in fact refused to communicate. Life experience tells that
such people are always in trouble with outstanding debts they don't
repay and are continuously worried about folding due to the "problems"
that arise / that they bring upon themselves; that they may even have
been unable to afford the sponsorship they promised or the market
price for the advertising they "obtained for free" with their lies;
and that, most significant of all, their word is totally worthless and
they have nothing to lose by disgracing themselves with a very sorry
figure - for a handful of peanuts. We are saddened at the heartache
that Frank D had to go through. We understand very well that next year
no one wants to go through that - and nobody should have to - but why
should not there be sponsored prizes in addition to the plaques.
NortheK is happy and proud to confirm that next year we will be
offering the same prize. We believe that sponsors are decent and
trustworthy vendors and that as we work honestly and decently so do
most of our colleagues and competitors, and that a single email to the
list of this year's sponsors is very likely to achieve enthusiastic
confirmation of this year's sponsorship, or different prizes, or
perhaps even greater committments, and at the very worst, a short
apology for being unable to give away any prize - with little effort
and waste of time. If there are new sponsors that wish to support the
contest, they will write an email as we did - again, without demanding
effort and waste of precious time from our valued judges. In regards
to the web site, would it not be possible to use this year's platform?
is it an issue of server, or an issue of coding? We think this year's
format was perfect and it'd be enough to just change the relevant info
(i.e. contest dates and the like). Please elaborate and a solution
will be found.
We support the idea of a three-month submission windows for shots
taken year-round. We, as vendors and sponsors, would be delighted to
be allowed to use the contest images on our website. We don't object
to a category of images that don't fit the contest rules and will not
be judged or awarded prizes, if there should be enough interest for
such a category. Above all, we are proud and honored to be a part of
the contest and will support whatever you people decide to do.
